4 Article Marketing Success Tips
Article marketing is definitely one of the best internet marketing strategies for getting free traffic to your website that is targeted and looking for what you have to offer. It’s also a great way to increase your backlinks for SEO purposes. However, not everyone is successful with article marketing. In this post, I will explain what separates successful article marketing strategies from ones that don’t work so well.
Here are four article marketing success tips you can use to help your efforts pay off:
1) Treat your articles like a real marketing tool. You don’t want it to sound like an infomercial or a blatant advertisement, but you do need to understand that your article is doing more than just giving out free information. Your goal is to get the readers to click on your resource box link leading back to your website, and to get bloggers and website owners to republish the article on their sites.
2) Write a subject line that arouses curiosity and actually makes people want to read your article. For the most part, people will find your articles after doing a search on Google or another engines search. In other words, they won’t be able to see the whole article so they have to decide it they want to read it based on its headline and a short description. You want your headline to be interesting enough for people to click on it and start reading.
3) Your articles should be at least 400 words long. You will want to publish it on several article directories and a lot of them won’t publish articles that are shorter than 400 words. This makes sense anyway because you want people to feel like they learned something by reading your articles. You can’t get enough information in an article that’s less than 400 words. Make sure your articles are very informative and useful to the readers. Crappy articles will not help you at all and you’ll only be wasting your time writing them.
4) Make your bio box feel like part of the article. At the end of an ezine style article, there’s an author’s bio box. Although you can try to put links back to your website in the body of the article, not all directories allow that and it decreases the chances of other website owners republishing it on their sites. The place to put your link is in the bio box.
Don’t treat the bio box as an afterthought or something that’s not important. It’s really the most important part of the article and the reason you wrote it in the first place. Your bio box needs to fulfill the same function that a call to action does on a sales letter. This is really important so let’s spend some more time on it.
This is what you usually see on articles, but don’t want…
“Johnny Johnson is a lifelong dog lover who has spent countless hours learning everything there is to know about dogs.”
Okay, that was meant to be extra cheesy. But really if you look at it from your reader’s point of view, they are interested in themselves, not you. Unless you’re the inventor of something very sell-known or someone with a lot of authority in your given niche, who you are and what you’ve done isn’t all that important.
What’s important is that if you did a good job with your article, your reader should be thinking, “Hmm… That was some great information… I wonder what else this guy has to say about this topic.”
That’s the kind of response that will get them to click your bio link. That’s what we call “pre-selling” and that’s what article marketing is all about; pre-selling your reader so that they click through to your money page.
A better idea for the bio box would be to make it essentially just the last sentence in the article, with a text link embedded in it. Something like this would be better…

If certain article directories you are submitting to don’t allow text links (some don’t), then just include the whole address so that your reader can cut and paste it into their browser window.
You want the text link to be keyword anchored if possible. This will help a lot for SEO purposes and give you a boost in search engine rankings.
There’s really not much more to know about successful article marketing than what is explained above. These four tips will make this internet marketing technique work amazingly well for you. Apply these simple tips and the traffic will start rolling in!
